One of Vero Health & Rehab Centers’ greatest and most unique specialties is our Advanced, Wound Care program. In addition to employing Certified Wound Care Nurses at Vero Health & Rehab of West Roxbury, all locations enjoy the support of a group of physicians certified by the American Board of Wound Management. Together with our team of physical, occupational, and speech therapists and our world-class dietitians, Vero’s comprehensive team excels at treating wounds of all types and working holistically with residents requiring wound care to, ensure that their unique set of needs are met.
For elderly residents in particular, wounds can occur for a large variety of reasons, including immobility, post-surgical complications, inadequate management of diabetes, insufficient venous and arterial blood flow, and amputations, among others. At Vero, we treat the underlying cause of each resident’s wounds to assist in wound healing, preventing further complications and lessening the risk of future wounds.
In addition, we employ specialized technologies to accelerate wound healing, including cutting-edge Negative Pressure Wound Therapy Devices, which use a specialized vacuum to increase blood flow to the wound and accelerate healing. We believe in utilizing innovative approaches to increase healing times and improve outcomes for even the most complex wounds.
Some of the types of wound types that we proudly treat include:
- Post-surgical wounds, flaps, and grafts
- Arterial and venous insufficiency ulcers
- Pressure ulcers of all types
- Neuropathic and diabetic wounds
- Post-amputation wounds
- Post-traumatic wounds
- Complex wounds and wounds requiring NPWT (Negative Pressure Wound Therapy)
